Envy's Web

Once upon a time, in the vibrant halls of a college campus, fate brought together two souls, Jishnu and Pallavi. Their friendship bloomed like a delicate flower, nurtured by shared laughter and late-night conversations. As time went on, their bond transcended the boundaries of friendship, and they fell deeply in love, entwining their hearts in a magical dance of affection.

However, just like any relationship, theirs was not without its trials and tribulations. They found themselves entangled in a web of emotions, going through moments of joy and moments of despair. In the midst of these turbulent times, they would break up, only to be drawn back together by the magnetic pull of their connection.

After college, life led them in different directions. Jishnu found a job in bustling Bangalore, while Pallavi was stationed in the serene city of Coimbatore. The physical distance only added to the emotional distance between them. They found themselves in yet another tumultuous breakup, this time with bitterness and anger.

Jishnu couldn't bear the thought of Pallavi with someone else, especially a guy named Sridhar who seemed to be getting close to her. The sight of them together in her social media pictures sent waves of jealousy coursing through him.

Unable to contain his anguish, Jishnu hatched a desperate plan. He decided to surprise Pallavi in Coimbatore, hoping that a grand gesture would reignite their love. But little did he know that the truth he would uncover would be far from what he anticipated.

On that fateful day, he saw Pallavi being picked up by Sridhar in his car. He trailed them, consumed by heartache and suspicion. His worst fears seemed confirmed when he spotted her wearing the anklet he had gifted her.

Crushed by his findings, Jishnu returned to Bangalore, determined to win Pallavi back. He convinced her to meet him under the guise of an official tour to Coimbatore. They reminisced about their happier times, but every mention of Sridhar churned the jealousy within Jishnu.

Hoping to relive their joyful past, Jishnu suggested a long drive to Ooty, where they had spent many cherished moments. The journey began, with the heavens weeping gentle tears of rain.

As they stopped at a dhaba for dinner, the atmosphere was heavy with unspoken emotions. Pallavi felt dizzy, but instead of holding Jishnu's hand for support, she clung to the bike's handle. A poignant reflection of their emotional distance.

The drizzle turned into a downpour as they resumed their journey, but fate had more tragic plans. In a heart-wrenching moment, the bike skidded on the wet road, and a lorry approaching from the opposite side crashed into them.

Jishnu miraculously survived, but to his horror, Pallavi's life was cruelly snatched away. Devastated, he was lost in the storm of guilt and regret.

The enraged public blamed the lorry driver, punishing him mercilessly. But Inspector Shella, with her sharp instincts, delved deeper into the case. The revelation of drugs in Pallavi's body during the postmortem puzzled her, as neither Jishnu nor the lorry driver showed traces of it.

As Shella summoned Jishnu and Sridhar for questioning, their accounts clashed, and Jishnu's statements kept changing. Suspicion brewed in Shella's mind. With tenacity, she unraveled the sinister plot orchestrated by Jishnu.

In a gripping interrogation, the truth finally emerged. Consumed by jealousy and rage, Jishnu had drugged Pallavi during dinner, causing her to lose consciousness. He then meticulously staged the accident, pushing the bike under the lorry to eliminate her and frame the innocent driver.

The courtroom became a battleground of emotions, as Jishnu's vile actions came to light. The media sensationalized the "Jealous Lover's Sinister Scheme," leaving the public outraged and demanding justice.

Psychologists analyzed Jishnu's behavior, but there was no escaping the reality of his heinous crime. Pallavi's family, devastated by their daughter's loss, confronted Jishnu in court, expressing their pain and anger.

Finally, the day of reckoning arrived. The verdict was delivered - Jishnu was found guilty of premeditated murder. The once-charming college student, who had so much promise, was sentenced to a life behind bars, paying for his jealousy-fueled rage.

And so, this tale of love, deceit, and tragedy serves as a haunting reminder of the destructive power of jealousy and the irreversible consequences of one man's sinister scheme.

Why I Would Tell You Not to Buy a Holiday Home in Wayanad

Let me start with something that may sound strange coming from me. I live in Wayanad. I am building businesses here. I am involved in hospitality. I am working on holiday homes and nature based living. And still, if someone calls me and says, "Anup, I am thinking of buying a piece of land in Wayanad and building a homestay. What do you think?"   My first answer today is not, "Yes, go ahead." My first answer is, "Wait." Spend some time here. Understand Wayanad. Then decide. Because I have slowly realised that many people are not really investing in Wayanad. They are investing in a picture they have created in their minds about Wayanad. They see a beautiful piece of land. A mountain view. A stream running beside it. A lake somewhere nearby. Trees everywhere. Maybe the forest is just a few hundred metres away. The broker says, "Sir, this area is going to develop." The price still looks reasonable....

We Forgot Us

Srinivas was in his late fifties and, by every conventional definition, he was a successful man. He had spent most of his working life in one of the biggest corporate companies in Bengaluru. Good position, good salary, good house, good savings and a life that most people would look at and say, "What more do you want?" Saritha was working too. She was about six years younger than him, ambitious, independent and still very serious about her career. Their two children were doing well. One was working in the USA and the other was studying there.   From outside, the Srinivas family looked like one of those families who had got everything right.   Inside, something had slowly gone missing.   Their mornings were almost mechanical. They would wake up, go for their walk, come back, get ready and leave for work. Their offices were in different directions and the Bengaluru traffic made even a normal journey feel like a punishment. It was not that their offices were ver...

No Audience, Still Acting

I was having my tea the other morning, sitting on one of the small shacks near my construction site. A teenage girl walked past and waited at the bus stop across the road. It was clear something was special for her that day. Maybe her birthday, maybe an event in school. She kept adjusting her hair and her dress, and from the corner of her eye she checked if anyone was noticing her. That small moment pulled me into a long thought. Who are we when nobody is watching? I realised how often we live our life like someone is always looking at us. As if there is a stage, lights, and a crowd waiting to judge our next move. I lived that way too. Every smile measured, every word chosen, every silence planned. I knew how to act in rooms, how to fit in, how to be liked. What I did not see then was how temporary habits become permanent masks. Slowly the mask sticks so tight that one day you forget how your real face even looks. The mask was supposed to be something I take off when I feel safe. But a...
